So, we get to grandma’s house. And mama sets up my pen in one of the bedrooms. She brought a couple of my litterboxes, hay, food, toys, and water. I just start to get comfortable when Spanky, a huge dog (mama said she was 12 lbs), came running up to my pen and barked and barked. This was bad, really bad. Mama got Spanky out of the room and shut the door. Safe at last. Mama came and rubbed my head, so it was worth it. Well, it would have been better just to get the head rubbing.
One day, before Lacy came to live with me, there was the smell of smoke in the air. Well, this was a different kind of smoke from when mama burned her dinner. This smoke came through the front door. The fire was a couple of miles away from us. So, mama left me all alone when she went to work. The smoke kept getting a little stronger.
Lucky for me, grandma had fire watch central going on and kept mama updated to the fire. Finally, grandma told mama, “You’ve got to get Teddy out of there.” So, mama came home at lunch and scooped me up. She took all my stuff and off to grandma’s house we went.
Grandma loves me.
Mama bought a new cage. Now I have two cages. I’m not sure why, but it’s cool to have two cages to lounge in. I get to pick whichever one I’m in the mood for. Mama even put a bowl of water and a lounging blanket in the new cage. This is the life. Though, I’m still lonely when mama is gone…
Mama’s doing a much better job taking care of me. Though, she’s gone for hours and hours and she needs to give me more attention. I really love it when my nose is rubbed from the tip of my nose to behind my ears. And rubbing my cheeks feels so good. Mama should never stop.
She is getting better, but she is gone too much. Way too much.
In regards to chew toys, I like telephone books, books in general, wood, seagrass mats, and hay. Brown bags are fun, too.
Did you know that hay comes in all flavors? Alfalfa is the best. Oat hay is really good, too. Timothy will do in a pinch, but that Orchard grass isn’t tasty at all.
Lettuce, celery, brussel sprouts, carrots, broccoli, and especially bananas are all good.
Beware of the monster. Mama takes the vacuum out of the closet. Doesn’t she know better? A sleeping monster is better than a loud one making lots of noise. It just might eat me. This is bad.
At desperate times like this HIDE.
Can bunnies be litter box trained? Mama gets this question all the time. Why would anyone doubt this?
One time I was in the bedroom in mid-run and realized I needed to pee. I did a 180 turn and ran to the litter box. I made it just in time. Good thing I am a fast runner.

Mama was sitting on the couch eating ice cream. She didn’t offer me any. Can you believe that? I knew that she must have forgotten to offer me some. So, I jumped up on the couch and got on mama’s lap. She was talking nice to me until I stuck my nose in her dish and tried to get the ice cream. Rocky road. Yum. It smelled so good. Why won’t mama’s share the good stuff?

When mama is not home I have to go into my cage. This isn’t as bad as is seems. It is my hide-a-way and no one can get me.
There is a comfy blanket for me to lay on and plenty of room to stretch. I’ve got a bowl of water attached to the cage. I try to turn it over but it won’t budge. So I bite it to show it who is boss. That would be me.
There is a food bowl with pellets – yummy – plus mama puts in newspaper for me to chew and play with.
Mama tried to get me to eat Fiesta Mix with dried fruit in it. That dried fruit was nasty. I ignored it and then mama learned that that stuff can kill bunnies. She should always listen to me.
Mama thinks that I nap all day. She doesn’t know that I’m constantly on alert for any strange noises or disturbances. She knows that when I go on alert that something is up. Does she think that I just check these things out once in a while? No way. I am always listening for security purposes. In fact, even when I am napping, I am more alert than mama .
You’d think that anyone that provides all this service should get more food and more petting. Mama are you listening?
